Heres another new post. If I had been a contributer earlier I would have posted this when it came out but for those of you who do not have this, this is the new Doomriders album "Darkness Come Alive" 2009 is winding to a close and this may be the best album of the year in my opinion. This album has so many good rock n roll grooves but still manages to be gloomy and heavy as hell. For fans of Danzig, Cursed, Entombed, Disfear.

This e.p. comes from Hamilton Ontarios own Rah. Very popular here in the Ontario/Hardcore scene. Nothing new if you ask me really but its a solid e.p. and a good throw back to the early days of punk and hardcore. For fans of The Germs, Fucked up.

Last but not least for this post, another Ontario hardcore favorite Vicious Cycle. Vicious Cycle's Pale Blue Dot is an even farther throwback to hardcore and punk roots, the production quality pops and cracks like an old lp. This band Jazz's things up a little with a little more melody and an indie kind of feel on some tracks, good versataile record with some memorable hooks. Got to see them with my man El Jefe in a tiny basement in Kitchener I think it was, they were on tour with the band from my previous post Burning Love. The show got broken up a new songs into Vicious Cycles set but still a good memorable show, broke out into nervous breakdown for the close. For fans of Fucked up, Career Suicide.

Hey guys! Whats up. My names Patrick Sparrow and I'll be one of the new contributors to the blog. Ill try to keep up with posting new releases in the vein of what has been published in the past. The first post shows Toronto's very own Burning Love. Burning love is the new project from Chris Colohan (formerly of cursed, left for dead and the swarm).

Burning Love also features some of the talented members of Hamilton hardcore act Vatican Chainsaw Massacre and Our Father. Ill bring you some more material from these bands within the next day or two. This e.p. from Burning Love is by far the best new e.p. I've heard this year. It mixes the familiar downbeat punk elements of Cursed with a rock and roll groove aspect you'd here from someone like The Bronx. Anyways, enjoy!

Okay, I know this is left field for this blog, but frankly, if you can't appreciate this singer's voice, you have issues far greater than I. This album won a grammy that was actually deserved for once and not paid for by some big label on an artist push. At times jazzy but mostly a smooth bluesey soul, she exhibits incredible control and a keen sense of melody. Where she truly shines, however, is in a live acoustic setting. All three live sets above are semi or full acoustic and allow her to step out from behind the studio players that somewhat drown the songs on the album itself. Give her an honest try and forget that she's all over the radio for a bit.
